Welcome to Living like Liz! I am so glad you have stumbled across my blog. I have decided to launch this lifestyle blog as a means to produce creative content similar to a personal journal. I do not have a single theme, but instead, I want to be inspired and create stories as they come up in my day to day life. I am sure that I will change up what I post and how often once I become more comfortable writing publicly, but for now, I want to write about events in my life as they come. You will get to know more about me and what this blog is all about as I start to feel out the nature of its theme. I will also allow my followers to make suggestions on what to write about next. I want Living like Liz to be an engaging and relaxing place for viewers to come to and share ideas.
My inspiration to someday start a blog started a year and a half ago when I moved to Eugene, OR. Transferring to the University of Oregon, I realized that I wanted to pursue a study that would better fit my lifestyle and passions. Journalism has allowed me to set my love for storytelling free and grow as a writer. I firmly believe that this area of study holds many opportunities for me to grow in knowledge and talent. Journalism offers a chance to learn different perspectives through the stories of people around the world. Being able to translate individuals’ experiences into compelling stories is something I have found to be both humbling and inspiring. I want to bring this same joy to my readers.
To give a bit of a back story, my love for journalism began when I watched the show Gilmore Girls at age fourteen. The main character is a young, motivated student who dreamt of becoming a journalist, ultimately sparking my inspiration. I also will never forget the day my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Wilson informed me that I had passed the state writing test with all fives— the highest possible score! I had been the only fourth-grade student in the entire school to receive this honor. Soon after, my mother bought me my very own typewriter, where I proceeded to write short stories with my siblings and act them out. There was no better feeling than illustrating my thoughts on a page and articulating my ideas. I was a natural storyteller, and I loved it.
Writing about fitness, college, food, travel, self-growth, etc., I want to invite you to come along with me on this journey I call my life. I will be posting two times a week at a minimum and will try my best to answer as many questions or ideas anyone has for my blog.
Thank you all so much again for reading. Ta ta for now, my loves!
